Give related work a shared context

A workspace is the context that connects tasks, source references and supporting records. It helps distinguish work on one system from a similarly named task elsewhere. The workspace is not itself a claim that a tool may modify every repository or resource associated with it.

What belongs in the context

• The system or repository being investigated.

• The important source revision or other state identifiers.

• Shared terminology and constraints relevant to the task.

• References that help a reviewer locate the underlying evidence.

Keep responsibility narrower than context

A modernization effort can require reading several modules while changing only one. Those are different scopes. A useful workspace gives access to the context needed for understanding; a work unit defines the responsibility of the proposed change.

When work moves to a new state

If the source revision or repository boundary changes, carry that distinction into subsequent observations. A note from an older state can remain useful without being silently reclassified as current evidence. Reviewers should be able to tell what changed and which conclusions need to be revisited.
