Install and update Explorer

Download the package available to your account

1. Sign in and open Account → Beta if you are an active program member.

2. Choose an available package for your operating system and architecture. A Coming soon label is not a downloadable package.

3. Install using your operating system’s normal installer flow.

4. Open Explorer and check its displayed version. Sign in or reconnect when requested.

Check for an update

Use Explorer’s Updates area to inspect an available release and its notes. Channel access follows your account and program eligibility. An available update, a downloaded package, an installer starting and a completed update are different states. Confirm the version after Explorer starts again.

Windows and Ubuntu

Windows uses its supported Windows installer. For Ubuntu, use the .deb package actually listed for your account. The currently published Ubuntu package requires manual installation; do not assume it has an automatic update path because a download or release manifest exists. Follow the update experience offered by your installed version when a supported newer package becomes available.

If an update cannot proceed

• Check connectivity, account access and whether the release is still available to your account.

• Read the update message. An expired, withdrawn, changed or invalid package must not be installed by bypassing the check.

• If the operating system asks for installation permission, complete its normal prompt; a permission denial is not a completed update.

• After a failure, check the installed version and retain the visible error category when asking for support. Do not send passwords, raw logs or private repository paths.

Keep local work safe

Follow the application’s visible instructions for closing during installation. Do not launch a second installer or assume a server download receipt proves installation completed. This guide does not promise macOS packages or unattended updating on every platform.
